While reminiscing about favourite US tour stops, Ed Sheeran admitted nothing topped the volume from one night in Detroit, thanks to an unforgettable cameo from Eminem.
Ed Sheeran joined Kylie Kelce on her Not Gonna Lie podcast for a laid-back conversation about parenting, performing, and the music that fills their households.
When the conversation turned to touring highlights, Ed brought up a moment that music fans will not forget. Asked to rank Philadelphia, the host’s hometown, among favourite US cities to perform in, Sheeran mentioned it as a solid contender for its energy, but said no crowd had ever roared louder than Detroit, and for good reason:
“The loudest, and there was a bit of a cheat code on it, was Detroit when we brought on Eminem. That was the loudest I’ve ever heard a crowd. Like, anywhere in the world. There has never been a louder crowd than that. But I will say it was ’cause I brought Eminem on stage in Detroit. That’s the cheat code”.
The moment he is referring to happened in 2023, when Eminem ascended to the stage during Ed’s Detroit show to perform “Lose Yourself”. The surprise sent the crowd into a frenzy, and clearly left an impression on Sheeran, too.
