Benzino also admits that he shouldn’t have used «The Source» to promote his group Made Men.
Benzino recently stopped by Power 105’s The Breakfast Club, reflecting on his time at The Source magazine. During the interview, he revealed that he’s ready to sit down with Emimen and patch up their differences after beefing for several years in the early ‘00s.
«It’d be good if we would be able to really sit down and meet,» he said. «It’s not like we’ve ever really been in a room together, ever really met and never really talked about the situation. I mean, I’d be open to it, you know what I mean? I understand that he’s a great influence on the culture. Thinking back, I probably could have did things differently. I had The Source as a platform, and you just get caught up and at the time, I was caught up.»
He also said that he wasn’t aware of how powerful the mic system was at the magazine, and expressed regret over giving Made Men a high rating. He also addressed using the publication as a way to promote his own group.
«It’s like a double-edged sword, because back then, when I was with the RSO Made Men and we were putting ads in the magazine, it was kind of like the first time that that was happening. So people took it the wrong way. But DJs, the all have artists, they have stuff that they promote on their own platform. I just think it was early in the game and people were so caught up with the mic system and so into the magazine, I probably didn’t even realize it.
«I definitely think it was a mistake to give the Made Men four and a half mics,» he added. «I shouldn’t have did that, but I’d never been involved and given anybody mics.»
