During his concert in St. Louis, Yelawolf excited the crowd by introducing Eminem on stage.
Yelawolf is currently on the road, and at a recent show in St. Louis, he took a moment to crack a joke about none other than Eminem. Standing under the stage lights, Yela hyped up the crowd:
“Make some fucking noise for the one and only Mr. Marshall fucking Mathers!!!”
Then, after having held an intense pause, he added:
“I’m just joking. Hahaha! I can’t afford Eminem, neither can you. But you’ve got me, goddamn it!”
While the crowd gave a polite reaction, it is hard to say whether the joke really hit the mark. Positioning himself as a “budget Eminem” felt a little odd — especially for an artist who has carved out his own path and sound over the years.
And if we are being real, getting Eminem to show up at your concert is not about money. Sure, Em gets paid for big public appearances — like his recent performance at the Crawford vs Madrimov fight — but when it comes to popping up at shows for friends like Ed Sheeran or 50 Cent, it is about relationships, not cash.
Just like scoring a rare Eminem verse for an album, it is not a matter of cutting a fat check — it is about respect, loyalty, and personal connection. Yelawolf knows it, he has a song with Em recorded for his Shsdy Records album.
Bottom line: Eminem does not have a price tag you can just pull off a shelf. And Yelawolf does not need to sell himself short either.
