While Kim remains in jail unless she goes to rehab, Eminem is willing to pay for her inpatient treatment, according to an unverified report.
An anonymous source provided information that sounds plausible but is not entirely convincing. RadarOnline, a celebrity gossip publication not known for rigorous journalism, quotes an “insider” claiming that Eminem is unfazed by Kim’s legal troubles and is ready to fund her recovery for however long it might take:
“He has zero judgment, all he cares about is her getting better. He has told her that she can stay in treatment for as long as it takes and he will cover it”.
This part of the report is easy to believe. Even if Slim Shady has rapped horrible things about Kim, Marshall Mathers has shown her support many times before in quite similar circumstances. He paid for Kurupt’s rehab; he has even more reasons to do so for the mother of his children, who are very worried.
The final claim, though, attempts to describe Eminem’s emotions about the situation, and this is where a reader should be cautious:
“He is so hopeful. He says if she can do this, she can have the most wonderful life”.
As has been pointed out many times, Eminem’s inner circle is notoriously tight-knit. He has known most of the people he works with or interacts with for years. It’s hard to imagine Marshall sharing his thoughts, hopes, and feelings with someone he doesn’t trust. It’s equally improbable that anyone in that circle would betray his trust by selling a story to a gossip rag.
Interestingly, a very similar and even bolder story was published earlier this year in the National Enquirer: “Eminem was horrified by Kim’s mug shot”, the newspaper quoted an unnamed source. “He says he wants this to be her wake-up call that she needs professional help. Eminem’s ready to pay for it all. He’ll have her flown off to any A-list rehab that she wants. She can do it on a tropical island if she wants – he doesn’t care as long as she does it. They have so much history – he truly loves her. It’s devastating to see Kim fall apart like this, but then watching their family suffer over it makes the situation doubly devastating”.
This story was published in May and, as we know, Kim did not stay in rehab. Following court orders, she checked-in and quickly absconded, violating her bond conditions. One of the first things her lawyer asked a judge at the hearing last week was to change the conditions of her bond and allow her to undergo treatment in her house. This motion was denied. As far as the media is aware, at the moment, Kim remains in the Macomb County Jail, with the preliminary examination in her two felony cases scheduled for October 23.
