On the new album “Can’t Get Right”, Lefty Gunplay not only showcases his growth but also tips his hat to one of his biggest inspirations — Eminem.

Lefty Gunplay and JasonMartin teamed up for a brand-new joint project, “Can’t Get Right”, which hit streaming platforms on May 9. The album pairs Lefty’s raw energy with JasonMartin’s veteran polish — and one track in particular, “Menace” featuring The Game, caught listeners’ attention for its clever nods to Eminem classics like “Like Toy Soldiers”, “Careful What You Wish For”, and “Lose Yourself”.

“Menace” is not the most streamed song from the album, but it is the one Lefty chose as an artist’s pick to pin at the top of his Spotify page.

Born Frankin Holladay, Lefty Gunplay is a rising name from Baldwin Park, currently signed to OTR Records. He first gained major recognition appearing on Kendrick Lamar’s “TV OFF” and has a hefty catalogue out there already. But many fans see this new album with JasonMartin, formerly known as Problem, as his sharpest move yet.

In a recent interview on Shade 45 with DJ Whoo Kid, Lefty put his admiration for Eminem front and centre: “Top 3 gotta be Eminem… I write to every Eminem beat”, he said, adding that he dreams of connecting with Em one day. With “Can’t Get Right”, he is putting in that work, with respect, bars, and a dose of that early Shady spirit.
