To those who even theoretically think about going against Eminem, Fifty says: “Stop. It’s not going to work out”.
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, as he is called when he puts on his TV producer and media mogul hat, sat down for an exclusive interview about his upcoming “Power” sequels but ended up talking about his friendship with Eminem.
A host asked Fifty whether he would consider doing a Verzuz battle against Eminem, for culture, as he said, not for competition. Fifty was deadly serious when he responded:
If anybody’s thinking of doing that type of competition with Eminem they should stop. Just stop thinking that shit right away because it’s not going to turn out good. No, it’s not going to work out. Bro, you know, “The Marshal Mathers LP” sold 22 million copies, 22-23. That’s why I always knew my project could be bigger. I’m doing 13 and it just came off for 22. When the guy that sells 22 million records says, “Yo, this guy is crazy. This is the one for us to fuck with”, everybody wanna do what he wanna do. That’s why my relationship with him is the way it is. That was the opportunity enough. I mean, I needed the opportunity, I’m gonna run with this shit, like you’re gonna never see me again asking you for nothing or need nothing from you. I’ve been doing this too long.
Fifty is loyal and not greedy, he does not feed of somebody else’s influence. His friendship with Marshall is tight and light-hearted. Hope it stays that way after Fiddy showed the host a bizarre text from Em:
You know what’s ill about Em, like he hit me randomly. I show you my phone. The last time I talked to him he texted me and was like, “Yo, will you go fly me in private so I can land on that dick?” What the fuck is wrong with you? You said the line a bitch was supposed to say and made it sound cool. He stopped doing what he’s doing to do that. That shit makes my day on a whole another level. This guy, I’m always going to have a love for him, that’s my guy. The other guys, they’re not gonna mean the same thing. His career is different. It’s not a good idea to fuck with him because I don’t really feel like there’s a lot of people at the same level.
Still, if there is a chance that we can expect a joint album from two legends? Fifty did not give much hope but did not exclude the possibility of collaboration completely:
They probably get songs out of us. I have songs still laying around. But once it starts to get dated a little bit we don’t want that like that.
The host kept encouraging Fifty to go and record something with Eminem. He thinks that it would be absolutely unexpected and put the industry in a chokehold. Maybe, but 50 Cent shifted his focus to other ventures, for this to happen he would need to go back in shape:
Yeah, I have to start working more. Back into writing and doing it all the time. Because Em is sharp right now, he wasn’t doing anything different. He went back to record regularly, like the same shit he did. And his record sales are right where he left off too. Still number one. So you know, it’s pretty tough for you to question it, right?
