On March 23, 2003, Eminem became the first rapper to win an Oscar. His song “Lose Yourself” written for “8 mile”, a film loosely based on his own story, won the award for Best Original Song.

That was the first time when a rap song was credited that high at the Oscars. However, this decision was difficult to dispute and it is proved to be right, as “Lose Yourself” became diamond certified and the most streamed song from the 2000s.

17 years later Marshall came to perform on the Oscar stage to the standing ovation of the Holywood establishment.
