Justin Verlander, the legendary Detroit Tiger player, returns to the grounds where his career started. And he could not choose a better music for this than Eminem’s “’Till I Collapse”.

Hours after agreeing to a one-year, $13 million deal with the Tigers, Verlander swapped his profile picture for an old shot in the navy and white Tigers uniform. It’s an old shot, taken in 2005, when Verlander’s pitch was that magic touch that Detroit needed.

“Back where it all started”, his first post with a new profile picture reads, introducing an almost minute-long video with the highlights of his Detroit years. The choice of music for the video is by no means random. “’Till I Collapse” is just as emblematic of sports success as the Old English “D” on the Tigers’ jersey.

History of Success

Verlander spent 12 years with Detroit after the Tigers selected him with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2004 draft. However, this leaf was turned in 2017, when the Tigers traded him to Houston.

That was a decision many came to regret, as Verlander has had an amazing run since, breaking records, earning titles, winning championships, and overall, remaining one of the greatest pitchers in history. After a serious injury that kept him away from the field, Verlander has been changing teams every year, and now he landed one-year, $13 million deal with the Tigers.

He’s Coming Home

It feels like homecoming for him and for many, many fans, who are now waiting to see his new photos in a new uniform.

And who knows, maybe Eminem would come to greet the legendary player. It wouldn’t be their first photo together.

Marshall is always involved in the team’s business. Sometimes, the public notices, like in 2024, when Em appeared in the “8 Mile” inspired Tigers promo. Often, we do not know what is going on behind the scenes. Yet what we do know is that Marshall is watching and hoping Verlander brings the heat in the coming season.
