The new episode of Rate The Bars with Treach gives us seven minutes of the hip hop legend appreciating the skills and craft of his colleagues. When they deserve it.

Treach has an incredible sense of language and understands the intricacy of wordcraft. He did not recognise Kriss Kross’s “Jump” lyrics but immediately felt that the flow had the 1990s structure. When Treach praises a rapper that means a lot because he recognises greatness in others.

When the Naughty By Nature rapper pulled the card with Eminem’s “Book of Rhymes” lyrics he got emotional:

Lone sniper, I hold a microphone like a loaded rifle
My dome’s brighter, all I spit from my skull’s fire
All that’s missing’s a motorcycle with the chrome wires, spoke tires
And y’all are flow biters, so I don’t gotta
Explain why they call me your ghostwriter

Lyrics. Word patterns. Not the normal, not something that the regular rapper would hear. That you would write. Yo! This is five, man. This is five.

Treach gave some love to Redman, Joyner Lucas, Tech N9ne and more, but he had some stern words for Playboi Carti who only received two bars from the legend.
