Eminem’s blockbuster 2002 album became his album to surpass 8.4 billion Spotify streams, holding steady at around 3 million plays a day.
“The Eminem Show” dropped on May 26, 2002, following huge anticipation and even a leak 25 days before release. That did not stop it from dominating the charts: it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 from just a single day of sales, moved over 1.3 million units in its first full week, and stayed on top for five weeks straight.
It has since been certified Diamond in the U.S. and Canada, and 18× Platinum in Australia. With 27 million copies and 40 million EAS sold worldwide, it is the best-selling hip hop album of all time.
With 8.4 billion streams, it is also his most-played, and will remain such for a long time.
