A young Detroit rapper sat down with Sway of Shade45 to talk about his new mixtape, mental health, police reform and his strained relationship with Eminem.

At the beginning of this year Tee Grizzley learned that Eminem was contemplating about inviting him for a feature but changed his mind after hearing Tee dissing him. Since then this rising Detroit mentioned more than once that he did not mean offence and would be happy to work together.

Sway obviously touched this topic in his conversation and it seems like the young rapper really longs for a mentor figure, and knowing that one of the biggest players in the game comes from the same city as he does did a real trick on him. He said:

I was hoping I’d get that from anybody that was like a big homie or a vet or been in the game longer than I have. Because that’s like an artist’s dream, somebody who’s successful, who’s been here, you hope they take you under their wing and show you the ropes, and let you find some loopholes that you don’t know. It helps a lot, it just helps a lot for real. Now with the Eminem thing. I had said something in a song about Eminem, it wasn’t the most respectful thing but I never thought Em was gonna hear it. I ain’t never had no problem with Eminem and I ain’t got nothing against him. Royce [da 5’9”] had said something one day, I’m like, “Damn, Em heard that?!” and Royce said he felt that way about it and then me and Royce talked. I’m like, “Yeah, I ain’t mean nothing about that, bro! I ain’t got no problem with Em, I never met him. It’s all love and respect. He kicked the door down for the city. So let him know I’m alright with him”. Then it was nothing from there.

Bizarre was absolutely right when he said “I tell you local rappers all the time: “You never know who paying attention to you, you never know who watching”.Y’all think you’re not on Marshall’s radar, but y’all are. He’s a rapper, he’s paying attention”.

It does not hold as an excuse that a young rapper disses an OG he wants to work with because he hopes that nobody will know. If Tee Grizzley wants to work with Eminem the statement that he is “alright with him” does not seem enough.
