Denaun Porter’s work on Rapsody’s new album already gave the project a strong Shady connection. Apparently, it could have gone even further: an Eminem feature.
Rapsody’s new album, God Gotta Afro & Gold Hoops, is set for release on August 21, 2026. She worked on the project extensively in South Africa with Mr. Porter who joined her there to produce the record, then put the finishing touches on it back home. The album’s concept is deeply personal, and it was critical for Rapsody to convey her vision to the audience. Still, she did invite select guests. Rapsody shared in her recent interview with DJ Hed:
There were some features. But I was very intentional and specific about who I wanted, and a lot of people we just couldn’t get.
One of the guests she could not secure appears to have been Eminem. She and Mr. Porter knew exactly what song they wanted him on:
“Abandon Me”. We wanted to play it for Eminem. But I had a hard deadline if I wanted this album to come out in summer. So, missed the deadline.
Marshall’s perfectionism often does him and those who want to collaborate with him a disservice. For instance, Skylar Grey once told a story about how he held back his “Last One Standing” feature till the very last moment. “Right up against the deadline. It was crazy. It was so stressful”, Skylar shared.
Marshall Mathers moves on his own time and marches to the beat of his own drum. It’s just that sometimes his fans miss hearing new music that reveals another piece of his story. There has been nothing for over a year, and now all hopes are now building up toward a new album.
