Rihanna’s sequel to her iconic collaboration with Em got awarded gold status from RIAA.

This RIAA gold certificate recognises 500,000 units sold in the US since “Love The Way You Lie (Part II)” was released in June 2011. This is the first certification requested for the single. For Eminem, it is his 64th active RIAA certificate.

It was Eminem’s idea to record a song that would deal with the same topic as the original duet but from a female perspective. Initially, Rihanna was not up to this as she felt that their song was a hard act to follow and did not need any sequels. However, Skylar Grey’s demo of a new song inspired Rihanna to step up and record her part.
