Kanye reminded his interviewers that Eminem has also produced his own Diamond single. Or, to be precise, Marshall produced two, and he did it first.

The second part of Ye’s Drink Champs interview is out, and this one has tapped into Eminem territory for a hot second. A host wanted to address Kanye’s recent achievement, the fact that RIAA certified his single “Stronger”. And because the single bears Kanye’s production credits alongside Timbaland, he became the second hip hop artist after Eminem to get this recognition as both a performer and a producer.

N.O.R.E. wanted to ask him a question about it without mentioning Eminem, but Kanye was not having it and reminded who is that “another one” who produced his own 10-million selling song:

N.O.R.E.: I recently read that you are one of the two artists that has went 10 million and produced their own record.
Ye: Yeah. Eminem also, yeah.
N.O.R.E.: That’s you and who else?
Ye: Eminem.
N.O.R.E.: Oh, okay.

The conversation moved on, but it was nice to see Kanye actively appreciating Eminem’s skills and giving him credit for all his hard work. Some things, apparently, do not change. In 2004, Ye revealed that working with D12 on “D12 World”, he had almost stolen Em’s collection of drums and that he learned a lot looking at Marshall producing and working on samples. Kanye said back then:

I really like Eminem’s beats, though. He is one of my top-five producers, let alone one of my top-five rappers. Me and Em together? Damn. Not that I put myself on that level…

Now, 17 years later, Kanye shares one of the biggest accolades in the music industry with Eminem and does not shy away from acknowledging Em’s achievements.
