Marshall aims to make his career disappear with the new track “Houdini”, the first single from his upcoming album “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)”.
The track arrives in just two days, this Friday, just like Marshall hinted last week. Eminem himself dropped the news on social media with a cryptic post featuring no other than David Blaine.
The video, captioned “Please do not try this at home. Or anywhere else”, shows Em FaceTiming the legendary magician. Shady went straight to the point after asking Blaine to join forces and getting from him, “Whatever you need”. So, Eminem laid out his idea:
I was wondering how far can we go with this magic. Like, can we do like a stunt or something?
Ever the showman, Blaine takes a swig of wine and then bites off the rim of the glass. But this is not what Shady had in mind. His following line could have sounded shocking if Em had not been pushing this concept for some time now:
Well, for my last trick, I’m going to make my career disappear.
And Eminem cuts the call.
The last split seconds of the promo feature the title “Houdini” and the date 05.31.2024 while a new killer beat plays in the background.
That was not the first time Eminem mentioned the fellow Detroit celebrity in his lyrics. On the Dr. Dre-produced track “Taking My Ball” from “Relapse: Refill”, Em had already made the connection between himself and the world famouse magician and the disappearance act:
I’m like Houdini, tuck my teenie eenie weenie between each
One of my thighs and make it disappear like a genie
The new “Houdini” beat carries that joyful, “i-don’t-give-a-damn” energy that was so prominent on Em’s classic albums. Can we expect something similar?
Anyway, that was just a first glimpse in what Eminem prepared for his new project musically, and it sounds exciting. Maybe Slim Shady plans to disappear, but this snippet shows Eminem is not going anywhere. If anything, we expect more this Friday.
