Drake treated himself to 30 new certifications ahead of his birthday, and a new diamond plaque for Views earned him a spot in an elite club.
In terms of diamond certifications (albums and singles combined), Drake extends his record to 20, more than any other artist. The newest update pushed him past 350 million RIAA-certified units in the US, again, more than any other artist in history.
In terms of diamond-certified albums, though, Drizzy still faces tough competition. He just matched Tupac with two Diamond-certified albums. Still, Eminem has three: The Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show, and Curtain Call: The Hits. It could have been four, as Recovery is already eligible for Diamond. So, we’ll have to wait for his next mass update before adding it to the list.
Overall, only 13 hip hop albums have reached 10 million RIAA-certified units. More than half of them belong to Eminem, Drake, and Tupac.
