I made that beat in 2017. Fast forward to 2020, the year of pandemic. Cudi had it, always had that beat. He started writing to it, we went to the studio, and then I cut it. Sounded crazy. And then he said he wanted to get Eminem on it, which I was like, “Okay, yes!”. Before he did that, though, I had a beat in a good place, my homie J Gramm got through and added some much needed sounds for dynamics. He’s really good with that. And then Cudi hit Eminem. Em loved the record. When he sent it back, it’s kinda been more about that time. Because we just lost George Floyd and Eminem made the good choice to address it on that record.
