Fifty’s hit “P.I.M.P.” has officially joined the billion-streams club on Spotify. The milestone marks his third song to reach the benchmark, all lead credits, no assists.

Currently, “P.I.M.P.” racks up around 408,000 streams daily. Meanwhile, his next likely entry into the billion club is “Hate It Or Love It”, the 2005 collaboration with The Game, which sits at 990 million streams and continues to gain over 600,000 plays a day.

Originally released as the third single from “Get Rich or Die Tryin’”, “P.I.M.P.” became one of Fifty’s biggest anthems. Subsequently, it peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and turned into a timeless club and street favourite.

Later, in 2023, the RIAA certified “P.I.M.P.” 3x Platinum for over 3 million units sold in the U.S. Most recently, the BPI also awarded the track 2x Platinum for exceeding 1.2 million sales in the UK. Moreover, the song’s international success spans across continents, earning multiple certifications worldwide: Platinum in Australia, Brazil, and Denmark, 3x Gold in Germany, Gold in Italy, Norway, and Spain, and 4× Platinum in New Zealand. Without a doubt, “P.I.M.P.” has a global impact more, not just a domestic success.

Dr. Dre and a Lost Sequel

“P.I.M.P.” features production from Mr. Porter of D12 and was mixed by Dr. Dre. All together, the track’s sleek beat, catchy hook, and cool delivery made it one of the defining sounds of early-2000s hip hop.

However, not every “P.I.M.P.” version made it to the public. During a 2006 interview with Vibe, 50 Cent revealed he recorded a sequel, “P.I.M.P. Pt. 2”, for his next album, “The Massacre”. Yet Dr. Dre reportedly vetoed its inclusion, saying he did not like how it sounded.

Still, fans continue to stream the original at a record pace. The track remains one of 50 Cent’s signature songs, and with “Hate It Or Love It” closing in fast, another billion-stream milestone is just around the corner.
