From learning to talk by rapping Eminem to sharing the stage with him at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony — that’s the distance Ed Sheeran went.

This humble international superstar commented on an HBO Tik Tok video from the ceremony and reflected on his decades-long connection with Marshall. Ed said before that he admired Eminem since he was a school student, but this time he revealed more details.

I had a stutter when I was a kid and I couldn’t speak properly. And I had to go through speech therapy. Part of my speech therapy was learning Eminem songs. And Eminem was my favourite artist as a child. When I got older I ended up getting to work with him and meeting my idol, my hero, and we become friends. He asked me to sing “Stan” with him, which is my favourite song of his, at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And I’m on stage right now, thinking, “How the hell did I get on this stage?!” And my dad was in the audience, and it was just a lovely, lovely day. I love him. Congratulations on being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The friendship between these two is amazing. Ed Sheeran learned a lot about work/life balance from Eminem when they work on their records together. Since then they even exchange audio cassettes for and from their respective collections.

Besides that, their creative collaboration is strong. All joint singles they released together have found the way to success. Sheeran has even listed one of them, “Remember The Name” in his Top 3 career accomplishments. And by the way, Ed supported Eminem on stage before, during Marshall’s UK tour in 2018. There is even an official live video from the Twickenham show uploaded to the official Eminem YouTube channel.
