The newly released Ransom’s single “Greed” features an uncompromising verse from Royce da 5’9.
The Slaughterhouse MC once again addresses systemic inequalities that Black artists face in the industry. He weaves into one narrative Juice WRLD and Kurt Cobain, Edgar Allan Poe and Debbie Allen, shouts out to the new generation of female MCs and casually mentions his journey into production that has not been properly acknowledged yet:
Produced records for Shady, but never got the plaque
Royce is indeed listed as a producer on “Darkness” and “You Gon’ Learn” from Eminem’s 2020 “Music To Be Murdered By”, the most prominent Shady Records release in years. The album did not get recognition from any notable award institution. Probably, because Marshall’s attitude towards award shows is now well known.
Royce, however, bagged a Grammy nomination in 2020 for his self-produced album “The Allegory”. Still, the award for a Best Rap Album went to Nas.
