Shady records official website posted the recap of all Eminem’s answers from yesterday’s live chat. Well, not all of them.
Some answers were censored and did not appear on the recap. This is about the question that referred to the lyrics from “My Mom”:
My mom loved Valium, now all I am
Is a party animal, I am what I am
But I’m strong to the finish with me Valium spinach
While it is usually understood as a reference to Popeye and his canned source of strength, a fan cut some metaphorical corners here to ask:
Did your mom actually make you Valium Spinach?
To which Eminem deadpanned:
long standing family recipe
So, this exchange is nowhere to find on the official website. Sure, there are concerns and regulations, but it is not often we can see such examples of self-censorship in an artist as out-spoken and provocative as Eminem. Does he even know that one of his answers was discarded as inappropriate for publication? Or did a media-person just lose a whole panel?
