One of two Eminem’s most emotional songs ever has met a new milestone of 400 million streams on the platform.
It is Marshall’s 20th track to achieve this.
Released exclusively on “Curtain Call: The Hits”, “When I’m Gone” is not only addressed to Marshall’s daughter Hailie, on this song, he talks to her from beyond the grave. In the interview with MTV Italy, Em said that with this song, he had been putting Slim Shady to death. But knowing that he would actually have a brush with death soon after makes this track hit even harder.
Neither the public nor critics appreciated the song on arrival, though. “When I’m Gone” charted at No.8 on the Billboard Hot 100, No.4 on the UK Singles Chart, and peaked at No.1 only on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart.
However, the song remains loved by his old fan,s and the new generation are rediscovering it. Currently, “When I’m Gone” is certified 5x Platinum in the US, and its popularity is unwavering.
