Though he left Eminem off his personal rap Mt. Rushmore, Wale’s latest tweet shows just how much respect he has for Slim Shady’s pen.

Wale has sparked conversation after calling Eminem’s Stan “one of the greatest songs ever written in any genre of music”. The track, which first appeared on “The Marshall Mathers LP” in 2000, remains a cornerstone of Eminem’s career and a cultural reference point across music and beyond.

The praise comes shortly after Wale was asked to name his Hip Hop Mt. Rushmore. He hesitated at the metaphor, calling it “a racist thing”, but then named his favourites: Jay-Z, Black Thought, Lil Wayne, and J. Cole, later adding Queens rapper AZ as someone “super important”.

Eminem did not make the cut on that list, but when it comes to acknowledging timeless records, Wale doesn’t shy away from the truth. Whether inspired by the recent Stans documentary or just reflecting on the impact, he gave Stan its flowers as a piece of music that resonates far beyond hip hop.
