Snoop Dogg’s recent collaboration with Eminem, “From The D To The LBC”, received a nomination for Best Hip Hop Video at MTV VMAs.
Premiered at an NFT exclusive music event, the song and the music video, luckily, did not stay locked in the NFT universe and became available for music fans worldwide. The first collaboration between hip hop megastars in over 20 years made a ripple and was noticed by the public and critics alike. It is the first official recognition for the video, but likely it won’t be the last.
It is a milestone 60th MTV VMA nomination for Eminem. He has won 13 out of 59 previous nominations. It’s been a while, though, since Marshall was awarded a win at the ceremony. His latest recognition from the MTV VMAs came for the “Rap God” music video in 2014. Since then, “Walk on Water” feat. Beyoncé and “River” feat. Ed Sheeran received technical nominations in 2018 (for Best Visual Effects and Best Cinematography, respectively) but did not win. In 2020, “Godzilla” feat. Juice WRLD was nominated in Video of the Year and Best Hip-Hop categories but was snubbed in both.
This year “From The D To The LBC” is listed among nominees in the Best Hip-Hop Video section together with Future ft. Drake, Tems — “Wait for U”, Kendrick Lamar — “N95”, Latto — “Big Energy”, Nicki Minaj ft. Lil Baby —“Do We Have a Problem?” and Pusha T — “Diet Coke”.
The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards will take place at New Jersey’s Prudential Center in Newark on Sunday, August 28. Meanwhile, you can cast your vote on vma.mtv.com for Eminem and your favourite artists in other nominations.
