Hey there, Shady Family! Today, our 15-hour listening party stream of Eminem’s new “Tobey” track left a lot of fans dissatisfied. Unfortunately, the release was delayed for unknown reasons. Here are some thoughts on why this happened.
Firstly, I would like to say that it is very strange to see all these complaints. The purpose of the stream is very simple – entertainment. It’s for chatting between fans from all over the world, joining in the anticipation, and being part of the special occasion that is Tobey’s premiere. Nothing less. Nothing more.
[“Tobey” OUT NOW]
According to generally accepted rules, the release of tracks should have taken place at the specified time. If, for some reason, the artist chose a different time, then that is his right. Nobody promised anything to anyone (The countdown is based on the official release date announced by Eminem. Release time – standard time 00-00 AM EDT as part of Global Release Day). We had to issue permanent bans to all inappropriate commentators on our channel – we do not want our community to be polluted with toxic and disrespectful behaviour. If you don’t understand the purpose of these fan streams, then it’s better not to come at all. Just wait for the release and listen to the track in solace if that rocks your boat.

Now, a few facts regarding the release:
1. Track release dates. It was officially announced that the track will be released on July 2. After the official announcement, Eminem’s social media posts were adjusted, and the date changed from July 3 to July 2. Perhaps there was a mistake by the label or Eminem’s team.
2. The release date of the track “Tobey” was scheduled for Tuesday and not Friday. That was already very strange, as artists usually drop their music on Friday as part of the global release day (New Music Fridays).
3. There may have been a leak (we’ve seen a few posts about this, but not the actual track). Because of the leak, the label had to adjust their plans. Or maybe even Eminem decided to remaster the track (we don’t know).
4. The announcement of Tobey’s release was very chaotic. No cover art was ever presented, which may indicate a rush because someone leaked the track.
5. The day the record was set to release, Eminem suddenly announces the album’s release date (yes, now we have the exact release date for the 12th studio album, and this is the only good news we had in a very long day) and puts out a trailer. This seems like a mishap because, in a classic promotional campaign, you first release a few singles, then the album cover, track listing, and release date, giving all these things time to linger and create hype about the project. Announcing the album’s release date on the same day as the planned release of the second single is a bizarre move.
The official release date is still July 2, so “Tobey” is set to premiere today.
We are not ending our stream and will wait until the end since we already started it.
We ask you to take these situations more lightly. After all, as mentioned above, the purpose of streaming is entertainment and to give you guys a platform to have a great time together!
UPDATE: After half a day of silence, Eminem announced the exact release time of Tobey. The second single off “The Death of Slim Shady” drops at 12pm EST. We invite all of you to join our stream and continue our friendly get-together listening party.
