Early numbers are in for Eminem’s new single “Tobey”, featuring Detroit’s own Big Sean and BabyTron, and it’s going straight towards the Billboard Hot 100. With less than 2.5 days of tracking this week, industry insiders are predicting a charting debut for the song.
“Tobey” serves as the second single from Em’s upcoming album, “The Death of Slim Shady (Coupe de Grâce)”, which drops next Friday, July 12th. The track follows the high-energy “Houdini”, showcasing Eminem’s versatility as he weaves between haunting instrumentals and confident bars alongside his Detroit brethren.
Admittedly, No.95 for “Tobey” is not the debut we expected to see. On the other hand, we did not expect to see it debut this week at all. 2.5 days is almost nothing, and yet it is something when Eminem is concerned. In these 50-odd hours of tracking, “Tobey” gained 4.9 million streams, moved over 40,000 units and made $3,000, over three times what No.96 made.
We’ll see what the entire tracking week brings to the next Billboard ranking.
