The life and creative career of The D.O.C. inspired one of the most representative documentaries lately and now the date for its theatrical release is set.

Titled “The Doc”, the project features appearances and interviews from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Eminem, Too $hort, Xzibit, Kurupt, Das Dillinger and other key players of the era.

It premiered in April 2022 at the Tribeca Film Festival. It was available online for the festival goers, but it certainly deserved a bigger audience.

So it is finally happening. A US film distribution and production company, Vertical Entertainment, bought the domestic rights to the documentary and is getting ready to release it to theatres this Spring, informs Rock The Bells:

The documentary about legendary rapper the @c.d.o.c has sold to Vertical Entertainment and is set to hit theatres this spring. Last year, the film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, and ROCK THE BELLS spoke with the Hip-Hop legend about it.

“All of us, the director, the producer, the editor—all of these guys were really geniuses in their own lane,” he told ROCK THE BELLS. “Just like an N.W.A. record, or a Chronic record, just a bunch of great artists who came together and made something.”

Europeans will have to wait longer but the US residents will be able to see the documentary that shows Eminem absolutely in awe of one of his inspirations later this year.
