The Eminem Show single has got its fifth Platinum in New Zealand, matching up its certification level in Australia. Now, these are two countries that certified “Superman” at the highest level.
Recently, Recorded Music NZ, a non-profit association of music rights holders and distributors, granted “Superman” 5× Platinum status. It signifies 150,000 official units sold in the country. For a country of just over five million people, that is a solid milestone. Still, given the country’s population, it’s not a small feat for Eminem.
Top of the crop
Moreover, “Superman” has good company. Such songs as “The Monster” feat. Rihanna, “Smack That” by Akon feat. Eminem, “Forget About Dre” by Dr. Dre feat. Eminem, and “Mockingbird” are all sitting at the same exact level. In fact, only a few other tracks have higher certification: “Till I Collapse” (6× Platinum), “The Real Slim Shady” and “Love The Way You Lie” (both 7× Platinum), “Without Me” (8× Platinum), and “Lose Yourself” (9× Platinum).
Sales around the world
Meanwhile, in the US, the single has only 2 Platinum certifications so far. It is safe to assume that sales have topped this level in four years since the previous update, but the official confirmation is yet to come.
Across the world, “Superman” has earned certifications in 10 countries
