The twelfth track on recent Eminem’s album is introduced with a terrifying skit, where a grown up man beats a kid for not obeying his rules. This time Marshall does not do it just for a shock value and the story that the track uncovers is far from being funny.
He talks from the first person point of view about a child being abused, beaten, deprived of trust and safety. Hatred provokes hatred and violence provokes violence, so in the end the child takes justice in his own hands and beats his abuser to death, being ready to go down for his actions.
While we know that little Marshal did not go to that extreme, we know that he survived abuse from his stepdad and he talks from experience when he raps:
Outside, I look like I’m calm
Inside, I’m a tickin’ time bomb
‘Cause of this motherfucker, who sticks his dick in my mom
