Eminem Photographed With Spike Lee, Says “Headlights” Music Video Is “Coming Soon”
Eminem says Spike Lee “came out to The D” for the “Headlight” music video.
Eminem has announced that his upcoming music video for “Headlights” is “coming soon.”
The Shady emcee made this announcement via Instagram today (April 5), posting an image of himself with Spike Lee. The caption says “Spike came out to The D for the ‘Headlights’ video…Coming soon.”
Lee’s role in the music video is unknown.
“Headlights” is a selection off Eminem’s 2013 album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2. The song features lyrics about the rapper’s relationship with his mother, Deborah Mathers. “Headlights” made headlines in 2013 upon its release because Eminem apologizes to his mother for his raps about her, in particular, for “Cleaning Out My Closet.”
“‘Cause to this day we remain estranged and I hate it though,” Eminem raps on the track.”‘Cause you ain’t even get to witness your grand baby’s grow / But I’m sorry mama for ‘Cleaning Out My Closet,’ at the time I was angry / Rightfully maybe so, never meant that far to take it though, ’cause / Now I know it’s not your fault, and I’m not making jokes / That song I no longer play at shows and I cringe every time it’s on the radio.”
