Yesterday Eminem won an Emmy, collecting three out of the four highest awards in the entertainment industry.
Very few artists have achieved an EGOT status, meaning they have been recognised with Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards. Now, Eminem has the first three on this list, but what about Tony? Or, as it is officially known, The Antoinette Perry Award for Excellence in Broadway Theatre?
Admittedly, Broadway is not a natural habitat for rappers. Even Lin Manuel Miranda’s groundbreaking hip hop musical “Hamilton” has not changed much in this regard. However, Skylar Grey has an idea that might actually work. She shared it responding to Paul Rosenberg’s celebratory tweet where he mentioned that Eminem is only one award shy from an EGOT status. She suggested:
