Eminem’s Shade 45 Backs Rosenqvist at Detroit Grand Prix

Eminem’s Shade 45 Backs Rosenqvist at Detroit Grand Prix

The racing champion will drive a Shady45 car through the street course at INDYCAR Detroit Grand Prix.

Music connections

This coming weekend, Eminem will make a symbolic appearance on the IndyCar grid. Driver Felix Rosenqvist’s No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing Honda will carry a special livery promoting Shade 45, Eminem’s long-running SiriusXM radio channel, during the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix.

The design connects several parts of Detroit identity at once: hip hop, motorsport, and local pride.

We’re excited to bring together two incredible brands in SiriusXM and Shade 45 for our Detroit race weekend”, Meyer Shank Racing co-owner Mike Shank said. Detroit has such an iconic identity rooted in both music and motorsports, so having Shade 45 and Eminem represented on Felix’s car feels like a perfect fit for this event”.

This collaboration continues Meyer Shank Racing’s habit of leaning into Detroit music history. Previously, the team featured Smokey Robinson on the same No. 60 Honda. In 2025, the car also carried branding tied to band CREED, co-founded by Detroit-born guitarist Mark Tremonti.

Meanwhile, for Rosenqvist, this circuit is going to be special. The Swedish driver arrives in Detroit after his Indianapolis 500 victory, and expectations are high. There is no doubt whose side Eminem has already chosen.

Sports connections

For Eminem, this just another chapter in a long history of backing Detroit sport. Over the years, he has continuously supported Detroit athletes, teams, and sports projects both publicly and financially.

In 2023, he joined a group of investors backing a WNBA expansion bid aimed at bringing a new franchise back to Detroit. The bid was successful, paving the way for a WNBA franchise to return to Detroit. And of course, Eminem does not miss a single Lions game, lending the team his support and enthusiasm. Only recently, he was spotted courtside at Detroit Pistons game together with 50 Cent and other close affiliates.

Cameras are yet to catch him watching the Detroit Grand Prix. However, in 2024, he was in the centre of attention at the Formula 1 US Grand Prix in Austin, where he performed in front of a crowd of more than 100,000 people.

While this year there will not be a usual concert in Cadillac Square for the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix, Rosenqvist will carry a piece of Detroit culture with him onto the track. For one weekend, Detroit’s music and motorsport traditions will share the same car.
