Local Detroit TV channel reached out to police to clarify what exactly happened earlier this month at Eminem’s property.
The incident took place on April 5, around 4 am. A young man got through the security of a gated community in Clinton Township where Marshall leaves and broke into his home through a kitchen window. According to police, Eminem woke up and saw the intruder in his living room. Marshall then engaged him in a conversation until his personal security detained him and called police. No one was hurt. Capt. Richard Maierle, who commented on the incident, explained that while there were some close calls with overzealous fans trespassing the property, it never came that close to become a problem:
Marshall Mathers was, in fact, home, security was alerted. Never, never had any problems. We’ve had people come over there, and everybody knocks on the door and they want to see Eminem. That’s why he had security 24/7.
We have also learned a little bit more about the intruder, 26 years old Matthew David Hughes:
He doesn’t have an address, he put his homeless and he’s still sitting in the Macomb County Jail.
