Logic Keeps an Eminem Photo on His Wall

Getting ready for his world tour, Logic hypes his audience with a memory of meeting Eminem.

The throwback came without much of an explanation. It was a photo of a picture wall, with a large image with him and Eminem in sharp focus. The connection is symbolic: the photo comes from the run where Logic opened for Eminem in Hawaii in 2019, just as Logic is now preparing for his own world tour.

While Logic didn’t say much when sharing the picture, the story behind it reflects how much Eminem has influenced him.

Logic previously said that the invitation to open came unexpectedly, after Eminem heard “Homicide” and agreed to put a verse on it. So, Logic arrived, full of trepidation. He first met Marshall’s crew, still not knowing that Em’s verse was already done.

Here comes Eminem with his beard, that’s new at the time. And he was so fucking cool. He’s the biggest rap nerd. We were sitting and talking about shit, and I was like, “Man, I’m sorry, am I being weird?” He’s like, “No, you’re not being weird”. Then two minutes later I’d be like, “Am I being weird now?” “No, man!” The third time, I was like, “Am I being weird?” He’s like, “Now you are being weird. Shut the fuck up”. And he’s like, “I got some”. And this motherfucker pulls out a CD. On his CD player, in the green room, he plays the song. And while he’s playing, I’m in my head like, oh my god, he’s gonna have a verse here. And he killed it!

Three months later, “Homicide” debuted at No.5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became Logic’s second Top 10 hit. It has since been certified 2× Platinum in the US and New Zealand and gained almost 600 million Spotify streams.
