Eminem extends his record as one of the most celebrated artists in music history by winning two trophies at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.

The legendary rapper took home the MTV Astronauts for Best Hip Hop and Best Visual Effects for his groundbreaking music video “Houdini”. This double win brings Eminem’s total VMA count to 15, making him the most decorated male artist in the history of the awards show and leaving Peter Gabriel behind with 13 awards.

However, nobody saw Eminem actually receiving his trophies, as it was not televised — no big moment on stage, no acceptance speeches. Just the announcement that it was indeed Eminem who won in the categories where let’s be honest, he had no serious competition this year. Most probably, Marshall just didn’t want the fuss and didn’t want to play a role in the giant machinery of a showbiz ceremony. The only thing he wants to perform – is music. It is understandable and commands respect. Yet Eminem fans left a little bit sad without seeing the triumph of classic hip hop enduring through the years.
