Eminem knows what it means to have all odds against him, says Kurupt. And he knows how to help his fellow artist in need.

Kurupt is a gangsta rap legend and one of Death Row Records’ stars. He is also held in high regard by Eminem, who famously put him on his personal top rappers list on “Till I Collapse”: “I got a list—here’s the order of my list that it’s in, it goes Reggie, Jay Z, Tupac and Biggie, Andre from Outkast, Jada, Kurupt, Nas, and then me”.

Apparently, Kurupt has his own reasons to respect Eminem; not all of them are connected to music. Of course, music is at the core of everything Marshall does, but this is more personal. Kurupt talked to VladTV about this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show and praised Dr. Dre and his loyal lieutenants. He was focused more on Dre and Kendrick, and it even seemed that he would overlook Em’s involvement. But no, Kurupt mentioned him specifically and got highly emotional talking about the role Em played in his life:

I’m glad that the game recognises this game. Dr. Dre and Snoop, they deserve that. So does Mary [J. Blige], Kendrick [Lamar]. The whole circle right there, they all deserve that. They all accomplished so much in this game, opened up so many doors — all four of them. Kendrick just began, and he’d already opened up so many doors. And that’s not even mentioning Em. I was going through something one time, and Em lent me a helping hand and helped me get out of a bad situation I was in before. He didn’t have to do it, and he did that for me.

Kurupt dodged the question of what exactly Eminem did, and he has every right to keep it private. But the fact that Eminem is that guy who would go out of his way to help not even a close friend but a fellow artist in need — this one Kurupt wants you to know.
