Last year brought us the first collaboration between DJ Premier and Eminem, but it could have happened much sooner.

Back in 2008, DJ Premier gave an exclusive to HipHopDX, sharing news that they worked together on the track called “Keys To The City”, their very first collaboration:

It’s a song that he actually produced, and he wasn’t crazy about the track. (I told him) as long as I can strip it clean and do what I do with your vocals, it will be dope,” and the final result according to Premier? “It’s dope!”

Man… Eminem is back. He attacked the track with a new style, just fucking ridiculous, kind of like how he came with ‘The Way I Am’ but even more lyrical like the old Eminem.

Well, that’s another song that went straight to Marshal’s vaults. Twelve years after, Eminem released another joint with Preemo, “Book of Rhymes” on “Music to Be Murdered By: Side B”. What has happened to their first attempt, though?

That was the question that a Reddit user asked DJ Premier. According to the answer they shared, Preemo knows as much as every other person about the topic:

Do not know what Eminem is doing with that song. Heard it once like 10 years ago and never got an update on it.
