Las Vegas rapper Dizzy Wright recently gave Eminem a shoutout, listing his top five favourite tracks from the Rap God. Wright posted a short video dancing and rapping along to “Superman” and praised the song that hasn’t got old.
“I’ve been listening to this song like it just came out”, he captioned the video, adding a superhero emoji and tagging Eminem directly.
A Fan of the Craft, Not Just the Fame
In fact, Dizzy Wright’s admiration for Eminem goes beyond casual fandom. In his list, he included some of Marshall’s most introspective cuts:
“Mockingbird”
“Like Toy Soldiers”
“Superman”
“Cleanin’ Out My Closet”
“Stan”
These are songs that helped define Eminem’s lyrical style and shaped the genre Dizzy works in today. For Wright, Em is a “master craftsman”, not just a chart-topper.
Still Soul Searching
Wright started rapping at just eight years old, forming a group called DaFuture with his brother and a close friend. By 2011, he had signed with Hopsin’s indie label Funk Volume and dropped his debut album SmokeOut Conversations in 2012.
That year also brought The First Agreement and his breakthrough mixtape, The Golden Age, in 2013. After touring with Hopsin and climbing the Billboard charts, Wright continued to refine his sound and production skills.
His most recent project, Soul Searching, Dizzy mixed and produced himself. Despite his indie status, Wright has collaborated with heavy hitters like Logic, Joey Bada$$, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.
Still, it’s telling that in his downtime, he turns to Eminem for lyrical inspiration. While other artists like Justin Bieber fumble through “Superman” on livestreams, Wright delivers the flow like someone who’s studied the source. And if the internet could not stop arguing about Bieber’s delivery and attitude, then no such questions await Dizzy. Everybody can see an artist who can both appreciate, enjoy, and handle Em’s music.
