D12 presents “Tear It Down” – the first single from their upcoming album D12 Forever.
New sound
Kuniva promised a star-studded feature list, and the first two names he revealed were Xzibit & B-Real. Both have a long history of connection to the Shady camp, and their contributions do not seem forced.
Jake Bass, of the Bass Brothers descent, produced the single, as well as the whole album, it seems. He built the instrumental as a relentless, riff-led groove that doesn’t wander far. There’s a clear nod to that early-2000s guitar-driven hip hop texture, but updated with cleaner mixing and heavier low end. The loop does most of the work, creating a powerful base that trades variation for consistency.
New chapter
Introducing the single, Kuniva, one of only two currently active D12 members, provided a list of links to streaming platforms hosting the track, equipped with a counter and a tracker. Seems like this time, D12 is taking their promo and marketing campaign very seriously.
As a matter of fact, it is the band’s first album since D12 World in 2004. Since then, there have been only occasional mixtape drops and multiple recording sessions. Now, it seems, things are serious. D12 promised to release the album this June.
