D12 have released a new single to their highly anticipated album alongside a video directed by Detroit’s own Diego Cruz.
On “Nightmare Walking”, Xzibit and Ice-T came to assist the Detroit duo. Although Ice-T did not contribute a verse and only appears in the chorus alongside Kuniva, his haunting voice reverberates over the repeated outro line.
Overall, Detroit veterans bring to the table decades of experience and the unwavering loyalty to the culture. The energy that has sustained both their careers and their legacy for more than two decades pushed the track forward. Their crisp, detailed delivery stands in refreshing contrast to many current rap trends.
It does not mean that D12 got stuck in the past. As the second generation of the Bass family to work with the group, producer Jake Bass gives their bass-heavy beats a new shine. Meanwhile, Diego Cruz, the director sought after by every Detroit rapper who wanted to leave a mark, handled the visuals for the song.
The music video closes with the reminder that on June 19, D12 will release a new album, D12 Forever.
