It may have started as a rushed studio filler, but “Big Weenie” now has a life of its own.
Eminem’s “Encore” cut “Big Weenie” has passed 100 million streams on Spotify, becoming his 107th song to hit that mark on the platform.
Originally written as a diss aimed at Benzino, the former co-owner of The Source, the track sees Eminem clowning his rival’s lack of success and rap skills in his usual unfiltered fashion. While it was not a major single, the song carved out a niche thanks to its cartoonish delivery and bizarre humour.
In a 2017 interview with Vulture, Em admitted that “Big Weenie” came together in a whirlwind session during the height of his addiction. After several planned tracks leaked, he flew to LA to create new material fast. “I was in a room by myself writing songs in 25, 30 minutes… and what came out was so goofy”, he recalled.
Despite its chaotic origin, “Big Weenie” found a second wind on TikTok a few years back, with users looping its whiny intro for viral comedy bits. Even Kanye West’s daughters joined the trend. At the time, the song had about 31 million streams — today, that number has more than tripled.
