Marshall’s deeper cuts keep receiving love in the Southern Hemisphere.
According to Recorded Music NZ, public interest in Eminem’s back catalogue extends well beyond hishis internationally acclaimed hits. His latest Gold certifications in New Zealand went to “Kings Never Die” and “Square Dance”.
Highly political “Square Dance” from The Eminem Show surpassed 200 million Spotify streams earlier this yearo. However, his collaboration with Gwen Stefani, “Kings Never Die” from the 2015 Southpaw Soundtrack, has yet to reach that milestone, with 173 million streams to its name.
Meanwhile, another of Em’s charged political song, “White America”, also from The Eminem Show, has earned its first Platinum in New Zealand.
At the same time, 50 Cent has also received new recognition from Recorded Music NZ. His soulful love ballad “Best Friend”, released on Get Rich or Die Tryin’ (Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture), and the remix with Olivia that turned it into a dialogue, might not be somebody’s first choice from Fifty’s catalogue. Still, the song has just gone triple Platinum in New Zealand.
