Hit-Boy Felt Like a Kid Watching Eminem and Jay-Z

Hit-Boy, one of Kendrick Lamar’s trusted producers, has spent years working around some of the greatest rappers of his generation. But watching an unexpected Eminem-Jay-Z performance at Yankee Stadium hit him harder than expected and had him rapping every word.

Near the end of a recent conversation on Kid Cudi’s podcast, Hit-Boy was asked when he last felt like a big kid. Cudi expected him to name some exciting piece of studio equipment, but he was mistaken.

Hit-Boy got to witness live a song he had carried with him for years, and he lived every second of it.

“I ain’t going to lie, man. The first thing that came to mind was seeing Hov and Eminem do Renegade on stage at Yankee Stadium. That’s some shit I wish I would have been able to see back then. But just to experience it now, I was rapping that shit word for word. Like bro, that shit felt great. [The Blueprint was] the first album I bought. So that shit hit me different”.
