Last year, 50 Cent promised to get Eminem on the Street Fighter soundtrack. It seems he has delivered more than anyone expected.
Unexpected collab
During an appearance on NBC’s Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, Fifty revealed major news: “I have some music that I’m working on. I did something currently, me, Eminem, and Tupac”.
Fifty emphasised that the vocals are not AI-generated. According to him, the track uses previously unreleased Tupac material, which they were able to access with permission from his estate.
As if that were not big enough, Fifty added another piece to the puzzle. This new music will reach an audience beyond just hip hop fans, as it is intended for the upcoming Street Fighter film adaptation, where Fifty plays Balrog.
“Actually, it was for the theme for the Street Fighter movie,” Fif revealed with satisfaction. “We worked on it and got it right”.
Fifty did not specify the release date, only saying that it is coming soon. Meanwhile, the Street Fighter premiere is scheduled for October 16, 2026. If Fifty did not mention this date, it might mean that the main theme will be released in advance. If the song arrives before the film, it could give fans time to hear it as music first, before it becomes part of the movie experience.
Respecting the dead
Apparently, Tupac Shakur’s estate gave 50 Cent and Eminem the green light to work with Tupac’s unreleased recordings. It is not entirely surprising, as Eminem had worked with Tupac’s posthumous catalogue before.
With Tupac’s mother’s blessing, Marshall produced Tupac’s posthumous album Loyal to the Game (2004), and also worked on the Tupac: Resurrection soundtrack (2003).
Whatever listeners think of posthumous albums, Eminem approached Tupac’s legacy with love and respect.
At the same time, 50 Cent has similar experience with Pop Smoke’s debut album Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon. Fifty executive-produced it for its posthumous release, helping Pop Smoke earn his first No.1 album on the Billboard 200.
There is every reason to expect a lot from this new song. After all, Eminem knows how to write for the screen. He already has a strong record with cinematic songs, spanning from the Oscar-winning “Lose Yourself” to “Venom”.
