Two weeks before the official game release, Electronic Arts revealed the soundtrack for a new instalment in the UFC series.
The game uses a new Real-Time Contact Engine with ragdoll physics that is so realistic that game designers dropped canned KO animations in favour of real-time object interaction.
As for the fighters’ roster, the creators guarantee that all current UFC champions and interim champions will be available. At the same time, there is a strong indication that players will be able to find every Top 15 ranked fighter across every active division at launch or shortly after via free updates. The previous edition, UFC 5, also carried a handful of unlockable non-fighter characters, including Bruce Lee, Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Bruce Buffer, and Dana White. The reviewers expect them to remain in the new release.
Fight music
Besides realistic fight physics and complex training strategies, another game feature always attracts players’ attention. The UFC soundtracks usually lean on high-energy tracks designed to get players fired up. The latest one, mixes eras and genres stretching from Ozzy Osbourne and KRS-One to BigXthaPlug and IDLES. So, it is not surprising at all to see Eminem’s name on the list of the featured artists again.
The UFC 4 soundtrack featured Marshall’s “Godzilla”, recorded for Music to be Murdered By with a chorus from Juice WRLD. Now, he returns to the UFC 6 with Trick Trick and their epic “Welcome 2 Detroit” anthem.

A good match
Eminem, a gamer himself, should be pleased with how often his songs find a second life on video game soundtracks. Madden, NBA 2K, College Football, and Call of Duty are only some of the titles that have licensed Marshall’s songs.
However, some game developers went even further, including Eminem as a character in the narrative. Looking back, the first experiment began in 2005 with 50 Cent: Bulletproof, in which Eminem voiced a corrupt police officer who looked remarkably similar to Slim Shady. Then, in 2015, there was an official Shady Records arcade-style mobile game, Shady Wars.
But it was just a warm-up that paled in comparison with a massive Eminem x Fortnite collaboration. Eminem has not only become a playable character with his own signature gear and weapons; he has also held two in-game concerts that smashed all previous streaming records in the industry.
A more recent example came through Hitman World of Assassination, where Eminem appeared as a limited-time Elusive Target named Slim Shady.
If it is impossible to guess whether there will be more creative collaborations like the latter, we can be sure that Marshall’s music is likely to remain a popular choice for game soundtracks.
