Hit-Boy remains one of the most prolific producers of his generation. Now, he proudly presents evidence of recognition from the legend himself, Dr. Dre.

The clue is in the name

In his 38 years, Hit-Boy has worked with a long list of stars. Kanye, who signed him as an in-house producer in 2011, Beyoncé, A$AP Rocky, Drake, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, and many, many more. A special mention goes to Nas, for whom Hit-Boy produced six albums this decade alone.

Interestingly, his first major debut was “Drop the World”, Lil Wayne’s collaboration with Eminem. Later, Hit-Boy worked with Em again on “Nowhere Fast” from Revival. He was almost dragged into The Game’s beef with Eminem when “The Black Slim Shady” dropped. However, Hit-Boy later clarified that the initial idea for the song and for his beat was to pay homage to Eminem, and he had no idea that The Game would turn it into an attempt at a diss.

With such a record, Hit-Boy has no lack of star connections in his life. Yet this one, with Dr. Dre, clearly made him feel the need to share the excitement.

Studio time

On his social accounts, Hit-Boy posted a couple of photos with the Good Doctor. Dr. Dre is, as always, in the studio, presumably working.

One comment joked about the disconnect between the number of photos from the studio and the number of new songs he actually puts out. In fact, this type of tired scepticism seems to prevail over the fans’ optimistic comments about a new collaboration between Dre and Hit-Boy.

Whether there is a new record locked in Dre’s vaults now or not, it is good to see him healthy, happy, and in touch with a new generation. It was certainly a good day for Hit-Boy. Sharing the photo, he added the caption: “i done learned a lot seen a whole LOT”. This link-up with a legend is, surely, another important page in Hit-Boy’s notebook, a student of the game, as the best artists are, always.
