A new round of guessing music blind brought us the basketball superstar and his extensive knowledge of hip hop.

Rap Connosseur

LeBron’s love for the genre is well documented. Cameras follow him everywhere, and LeBron is not shy about posting his own candid videos. This is how we can see him hitting the gym to Em’s music, muttering Em’s verses on the court, and bumping his new records before giving them a sign of approval.

So, it was not a problem at all to recognise one of the first collaborations between Eminem and Dr. Dre during the Track Star quiz.

Oh, it’s easy. It’s Dr. Dre, Eminem. I can just do the chorus”. And he did. LeBron was spitting these lines as if he raps this hit every day after breakfast. So, maybe he does.

Meanwhile, for LeBron Dr. Dre is not just a hip hop legend who produced some of his favourite songs. He is a friend and a business partner.

They have been close for quite some time. “Since the inauguration, me and Dre, Jimmy [Iovine], all of us. We went to Boston. I actually did one of the unveils at the Boston Red Socks stadium and then I took it from there. Took it to my team and to the redeem team in 2008. The rest is history”. LeBron was the Beats first ambassador for Dr. Dre, and he still promotes the brand now.

Beats Again

It took long time for Nike and Beats to come together, but LeBron is not upset about the pace.
Everything good in this life takes time”, the basketball legend shrugs. “It’s all about timing. It’s the perfect combination. It’s the perfect time”.

He is making the rounds of the press, promoting the Nike x Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 earbuds, which, besides a snug fit, active noise cancellation, and water resistance, feature built-in heart rate monitoring. That’s new. And with LeBron’s charisma, these buds can find a devoted following.

Dr. Dre and Iovine sold Beats to Apple 12 years ago. However, the brand still maintains a strong association with Dre in the public eye. It is understandable, as it was probably the biggest and most visible business venture by a hip hop artist in history so far. Even in this video, filmed in support of the Nike x Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 campaign, Dr. Dre shows up wearing his classic Beats by Dre around the neck. Another full circle moment for hip hop and Apple.
