Having gained over 46 billion plays on Spotify, Marshall has reached a new streaming milestone on the platform.
Eminem remains the seventh most streamed artist across all genres and the second most streamed rapper on Spotify. He is ranked No.8 in streams from his catalogue as a lead artist (40.8 billion). However, over 5.2 billion streams coming from features bump his total up to 46 billion. When total streams are counted for Spotify artists, it places Em at No.7, just the way it has been for years now.
Marshall has been retaining this position without the help of any new release. However, it would be a mistake to declare that all Em’s gains are coming from his old records. His latest project, “Music to Be Murdered By”, was released in 2020 and ranked as his fifth most streamed album. Lately, MTBMB has been bringing about 1.5 million streams daily. It is more than “The Slim Shady LP”, “Relapse”, “Revival”, “Kamikaze”, or “The Marshall Mathers LP”.
This new milestone proves that Eminem is currently one of the most relevant artists. He is not an “artist from the pre-streaming era,” although he indeed started back then and remains the only one from the period able to keep up with new times. He is the artist whose music is important right here and right now to the people of all generations.
