In a month, Marshall amassed over half a million voices supporting his induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
He was not even in the Top 5 of the list at the beginning of the polling, then he shot up to the top. Then he got involved in a frenetic chase arranged by the Duran Duran fans who eventually kicked their idols all the way up to the top. Their voting machine is still working, the gap between Duran Duran and Eminem is almost 40,000 votes at the moment.
However, it seems that the Eminem fans pick up their battles wisely. There is no point to compete with pop fan armies and their nimble fingers. An artist at No.1 on the popular vote battle does not have their induction in the bag. This ballot is for consideration by the voting committee. And there is something to consider: Eminem has over 505,000 votes at the moment. It is almost 200,000 votes more than Pat Betanar at No.3, and about the same as Dolly Parton (No.4) and Eurythmics (No.5) combined.
We are confident that Marshall will maintain a respectful position on the Hall of Fame fan ballot. Because his fans just go and vote for him, without a hype, big campaigns, making strategic alliances and so on. Eminem has a solid and vast fanbase and an even bigger audience.
