Even after two decades of animosity, 50 Cent made it clear that time had not changed his feelings toward Irv Gotti.
50 Cent wasted no time making his stance known following the news of record producer Irv Gotti’s death. Fifty took to Instagram to share a post that quickly sparked reactions across the hip hop world.
In the post, Fif is seen in a grey G-Unit sweatsuit, smoking a hookah while posing next to a mock headstone that reads “RIP”. He also included an image of Gotti smiling at an event. His caption was a mix of provocation and humour:
I’m smoking on dat Gotti pack, nah God bless him 🕊️ LOL.
The response was instant, with fellow artists chiming in. Bobby Shmurda simply wrote, “Yo, this thing is crazy son”, while 600Breezy referenced Fifty’s infamous 2000 shooting, commenting, “Everyday he show us why they hit him 9 times 😭😭😭😭”.
It is not ironic, though, that this shooting was linked to Murder Inc. members plotting retaliation for Fif’s diss tracks, according to CBS.
Gotti, who passed away at 54, had a history of health issues, including multiple strokes and diabetes. His decades-long feud with 50 Cent stemmed from the early 2000s when tensions between Fifty and Gotti’s Murder Inc. label — particularly Ja Rule — erupted into diss tracks, physical altercations, and even an alleged assassination attempt. Despite the years that have passed, Fifty’s latest post proves that, in some cases, old grudges die hard.
